Women in Mining Sudbury will host its second annual Mining for Diversity Awards Gala in November.
The evening event is aimed at “celebrating leadership, allyship, and progress toward a more inclusive and diverse mining industry.”
During its inaugural year, the organization handed out three awards — Mentorship, Trailblazer, and Indigenous Trailblazer — and selected five women for the Student Trailblazer Awards, which included a $2,000 bursary.
This year’s event will take place Thursday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. at the United Steelworkers’ Hall in Sudbury.
Women in Mining is a non-profit organization with chapters around the world whose mandate is to support, inspire and empower women in the mining industry through networking, mentorship, and advocacy.
In addition to Sudbury, there are also Northwestern Ontario and Timmins chapters.
