The province has announced a start date for the inquest into the 2014 death of Michael Fournier Bolduc.

In a Nov. 15 news release, the Ministry of the Solicitor General said proceedings would start on Monday, Nov. 25 at 9 a.m. at Timmins City Hall.

The inquest is expected to last two days and hear from approximately five witnesses. Dr. Steven Bodley will preside as inquest coroner and Michael Blain will be counsel to the coroner.

An inquest into the death was announced earlier this summer.

Fournier Bolduc, 26, died on June 25, 2014, when a dead tree fell on him at a mining site near Matheson. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Fournier Bolduc's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.

Bolduc was a contractor for Orbit Garant, a drilling company. After a Ministry of Labour investigation into the accident, the company was fined $200,000 in 2017.
