Two new projects that will advance exploration technology and bolster mining investment are in development stages as a result of the Ontario Mineral Exploration Technologies (OMET) program. OMET, a joint initiative of the Ontario Geological Survey and Laurentian University's Mineral Exploration Research Centre, focuses on developing and testing innovative mineral exploration technologies. To date, seven projects valued at $2.2 million have been approved. The latest proposals to receive funding from OMET will be carried out by Quantec Geoscience Ltd. and Mira Geoscience Ltd. The technology, which is in development stages, will assist in the detection of mineral deposits, making it easier to locate deeper and less obvious deposits.

An expert advisory committee representing industry, universities and the geoscience community reviews proposals and recommends funding.
