Dynamic Earth is adding to their support of the Sudbury Area Mining Supply and Services Association (SAMSSA) for the next three years.

It builds on their existing partnership, which was announced in December 2015. The new agreement, announced at SAMSSA's Dec. 2 AGM, will amount to $25,000 of in-kind and cash contributions from Dynamic Earth to the association annually.

“It was a great Christmas gift,” said Dick DeStefano, the association's executive director.

Dynamic Earth is a science museum in Sudbury that focuses on mining history and geology.

SAMSSA will continue to have access to Dynamic Earth and its facilities for meetings, seminars, conferences. Association member companies will have access to Dynamic Earth to host their customers and potential new clients as they host them in Sudbury. And, Dynamic Earth will provide support and space for the day to day operations of SAMSSA.

“Those details have yet to be worked out but they could include office and meeting space, people resources, access to technology and other infrastructure,” said Julie Moskalyk, senior manager at Dynamic Earth in a release.

Dynamic Earth will also provide financial support to SAMSSA as it moves forward with funding applications for the expansion of their activities and services.

DeStefano said this includes one they've submitted to the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation (GSDC).

They received funding from FedNor and the GSDC when they formed in 2003, but these funding requests are the first SAMSSA has made since then.

DeStefano said priorities include enhancing the website, increasing their market reach to an international  audience, and improving how members can profile their businesses.

More information will become available in the coming months as they hear back from their applications.
