Women in Mining Sudbury is seeking nominees for its 2024 Mining for Diversity Awards.
Held annually, the awards aim to showcase “the importance of diversity and inclusion within the mining industry, while celebrating the achievements of individuals and organizations committed to advancing these values.”
“We are proud to host this event, which not only celebrates the strides made toward a more inclusive industry but also inspires continued progress,” said Heather Johnston, communications lead for Women in Mining Sudbury, in a news release.
“Together, we can create an environment where everyone feels valued and can contribute to the success of our industry.”
Awards will be presented in four categories:
- Mentorship: this award will be presented to a mentor or coach who has supported, encouraged, guided, or advised women along their journey in mining, either through their education or through their careers.
- Indigenous Trailblazer: this award will be presented to a First Nation, Inuit or Métis woman who has the leadership mindset needed to make extraordinary personal strides to navigate the mining industry.
- Student Trailblazer: this award will be presented to a Sudbury woman enrolled in a local post-secondary institution. It comes with a $2,000 scholarship and mentorship from Women in Mining Sudbury sponsors.
- Trailblazer: this award will be presented to a forward-thinking woman who takes experiences of the past and present and uses them to build strategies for the future.
