Brown's Concrete Products of Sudbury is one of two Northern Ontario manufacturers nominated for the inaugural Ontario Made Awards.

Brown's Concrete has been named as a finalist in the Ontario Made Awards, which celebrate goods and services that are produced in Ontario.

The 115-year-old company manufactures concrete blocks, paving stones, retaining wall units and other concrete items at its expansive brickyard in the south end of Sudbury.

An initiative of the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME), the Ontario Made Awards recognize outstanding Ontario manufacturers and retailers that help consumers make informed decisions in increasing the sale and awareness of Ontario-made products.

Brown's was nominated in the Consumer Awareness category, which acknowledges an Ontario manufacturer that “excels at leveraging the Ontario Made logo to raise awareness for locally made products.”

Finalists were chosen based on the results of public voting, which took place between Dec. 1 and Jan. 7.

A virtual awards ceremony will take place on Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. to name the winners. Attendance is free of charge.

The CME launched the Ontario Made product directory and marketing program in July 2020 following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic to encourage more people to purchase products produced in Ontario.
