Northern reps selected for municipal board

The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) has announced a new slate of directors for its Northern Caucus.

The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) has announced a new slate of directors for its Northern Caucus.

The directors, who will serve for the 2016-2018 term, include:

-Mac Bain, councillor for the City of North Bay

-Dave Canfield, mayor of the City of Kenora and president of the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association (NOMA)

-Michael Doody, councillor for the City of Timmins

-Alan Spacek, mayor of the Town of Kapuskasing and president of the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM)

-Phil Vinet, mayor of the Municipality of Red Lake

In addition, Claude Bouffard, mayor of the Municipality of French River, will represent the Association française des municipalités de l’Ontario (AFMO).

Lou Turco, councillor for the City of Sault Ste. Marie, will serve on the Large Urban Caucus.

Bill Vrebosch, mayor of the Municipality of East Ferris, and Chris Wray, CAO/clerk-treasurer for the Municipality of Wawa, will serve on the Rural Caucus.

AMO, an advocacy group for the province’s municipalities, elected the new directors during its annual conference, held Aug. 14-17 in Windsor.
