In an open letter to the four national party leaders, Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) President Catherine Swift pushed for a rapid resolution to the political crisis for the sake of its 105,000 members.
Alongside her call to action, Swift made a list of recommendations the government should take, regardless of who ultimately ends up in power.
These include avoiding incurring a deficit, avoiding expensive bailout packages, and decreasing spending, particularly on public sector compensation.
More proactive measures Swift featured in her letter include allowing business owners to borrow from RRSPs for use as business equity, and an overhaul of Employment Insurance.
