Efforts to bring an animation program to Cambrian College have received a $1 million shot in the arm from the province.

With agreements already signed to bring Sheridan College's internationally renowned curriculum to the Sudbury institution, Cambrian received the funding from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.

Due to be in place by the fall of 2009, the program will be housed in the former space occupied by the Northern Centre for Advanced Technology. The funding will be used to build the 13,900-square-foot space and to purchase specialized equipment.

The three-year program will see 25 students in its first year, which will increase to 80 in its fifth year.
