Tembec has not backed down in its aim to pressure the federal government to stand up against the United States in the softwood lumber dispute. Tembec president and chief executive officer, Frank Dottori, has asked Canadian residents to send letters to members of Parliament, International Trade Minister Pierre Pettigrew and the prime minister.

The U.S. department of commerce has imposed an average 29 per cent duty on Tembec's softwood lumber exports to the U.S.

Dottori says Canada has no other choice but to fight the tariffs through NAFTA and the WTO. Addresses for MPs are available through 1-800-622-6332.
