A $100,000-grant from the Living Legacy Trust to the Forest Research Partnership will help forestry experts benefit from the results of earlier research to increase their current understanding of growth and yield of forests in the Boreal and Great Lakes-St.Lawrence areas.

Over the past 50 years thousands of studies and research plots have been established to test, measure and monitor the boreal and Great Lakes-St. Lawrence forests. This latest study will capture and incorporate the results of past studies and plots that have a rigorous scientific design and record, high relevance and applicability. The data assists forest managers to understand and develop management responses that will increase future forest productivity. The results of the research will be used to increase the ability of the forest industry to make better long-term forecasts so that social and economic impacts are much more effectively incorporated into planning decisions.
