Municipal leaders from across the Northwest will gather in Thunder Bay this spring for the 2024 Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association (NOMA) conference and annual general meeting.

Scheduled for April 24-26 at the Victoria Inn Hotel & Convention Centre, this year’s conference theme is ‘Building a Brighter Future,’ with a focus on regional economic development.

The three-day event includes a variety of presentations and workshops, networking opportunities, and a tradeshow.

This year’s event will tackle subjects including partnering with Indigenous communities, growing tourism in northwestern Ontario, northwestern Ontario’s energy future, an update on Ontario’s forestry sector, labour market trends, and more.

Details on the draft agenda and registration are available here.

Created in 1946, NOMA comprises four municipal organizations, including the Kenora District Municipal Association, the Rainy River District Municipal Association, the Thunder Bay District Municipal League, and the City of Thunder Bay.

Its goal is to represent the municipal interests of residents across northwestern Ontario covering an area that extends from the City of Kenora in the west to the Town of Hearst in the east.
