Ontario manufacturing companies are being invited to apply to a new funding program designed to outfit them with new tools and technology to grow and stay competitive in the international market.

The province launched the two-year, $40-million Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness (AMIC) program on Jan. 17.

It's aimed at small companies that need to purchase equipment and advanced technologies, and hire skilled workers in order to keep innovating and growing.

Applicable industries include aerospace, automotive, chemical, information and communications technology, life sciences, and steel.

Eligibility requirements include:

  • a minimum of 10 employees,
  • three or more years of financial statements, and
  • a minimum of $500,000 in eligible project costs.

The program, which was originally announced as part of the 2021 Fall Economic Statement, is a new stream of the Regional Development Program (RDP).

Interested companies have until Feb. 10 to apply.
