Debbie Hendsbee, Wardrop's Mining Division Manager for Business Strategy and Development, was recently elected to the board of the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada.
"Debbie is an enthusiastic leader within our organization and her knowledge and fortitude will be a great benefit to the PDAC organization," said Brent Thompson, senior vice-president of Wardrop. In a news release, the company said Hendsbee's experience in Wardrop's engineering division, because of her planning, project management and business development skills will be an asset to the PDAC's objectives.
Essar Steel Algoma's Armando Plastino has been upgraded from chief operating officer to chief executive officer. Plastino, who was named COO in February 2008, took over control of the Sault Ste. Marie steel making operation after Denis Turcotte announced his resignation as CEO last spring. Plastino will continue to report to Jatinder Mehra, CEO of Essar Steel Business Group.
He was previously a vice president of operations and has served in various positions in engineering and maintenance since he joined the former Algoma Steel in 1972.
