Work should begin on Phase 4 of the La Verendrye hospital renovation project in Fort Frances by next spring says a city official.

The drawings, which are being fine-tuned, are in progress along with consultations from the Ministry of Health. If everything goes as planned work should begin by spring.

Over $8 million will be spent on the X-ray department, emergency room, and lab with a new location for the dialysis unit on the south side of the building.

A possible new computer tomography (CT) imaging unit, which shows soft tissue, bone and blood vessels, is also being considered for the health centre

It is expected to take approximately two years to complete the renovations that will be funded by Riverside Foundation for Health Cares’ and the provincial government.
