Sudbury's Crosscut Distillery grabbed four awards at the Canadian Artisan Spirit Competition with four of their handcrafted spirits.

Artisan Distillers Canada hosted the competition for a fourth year, celebrating distilleries from all across Canada.

A panel of judges who exemplify knowledge and vast experience with spirits and a strong influence in the industry conducted a blind tasting evaluating spirits on nose, palate, finish and quality.

Crosscut Distillery’s Triple Grain Vodka placed Gold. The local distillery’s Gin Trial #26 and Barrel Aged Gin also won Silver medals, and their Barrelled Mocha Liqueur won a Bronze.

With the help and support of the community, Crosscut Distillery has been able to source ingredients from local farmers and foragers to build a one-of-a-kind following.

Crosscut Distillery is inspired by the old-world craftsmanship of small batch pot distilling, as well as Northern Ontario’s founding industries: forestry and mining.

"Northerners know that around here, we do things differently," Crosscut said in a news release.

"Each bottle fuses local and unexpected ingredients with quality grains, cut and blended to create unique flavours, inspiring grain-to-glass enthusiasts with every sip."
