Indigenous Peoples from across Canada will gather in Sudbury in February for the fourth annual Indigenous Lands Symposium hosted by Wahkohtowin Development.
The five-day event is scheduled to take place Feb. 2-6, 2026, at Science North in Sudbury.
More than 300 delegates, 35 nations, and 60 organizations are expected to participate in the event, which will include keynote presentations, workshops, networking, and other activities focused on land conservation.
Since its inception in 2023, the event has rotated between different communities each year; last year it was held in Sault Ste. Marie. Each year, the event doubles in attendance.
Topics central to the 2025 event included land stewardship, Indigenous self-determination, sustainable forestry practices, project financing, and sustainable development.
A full schedule for the 2026 event is not yet available, but registration for the event is open.
Wahkohtowin Development is a social enterprise founded by Chapleau Cree First Nation, Missanabie Cree First Nation, and Brunswick House First Nation.
