FedNor is investing $526,800 to help 50 agri-food, equine and agriculture businesses show at the Northern Ontario Agri-Food Pavilion at the 2018 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair this November to promote northern agriculture and generate more business.

FedNor is giving dozens of agri-food and equine businesses in Northeastern Ontario a boost to help them get more exposure at one of the biggest agriculture fairs in the province.

The Government of Canada announced in a news release an investment of $526,800 in Economic Partners Sudbury East - West Nipissing. This FedNor funding will help more than 50 local businesses to participate in the 18th annual Northern Ontario Agri-food Pavilion at the 2018 Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, one of the largest agricultural fairs in the world.

The announcement was made today in Sturgeon Falls by Marc Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor.

“Northern Ontario is home to some very impressive agriculture, agri-food and equine businesses and Economic Partners is pleased to work with FedNor to help these firms create awareness and maximize the economic potential of our region. We are excited to lead this important initiative that will help businesses increase sales and expand their reach by gaining access to southern Ontario and international markets,,” said Claude Bouffard, board chair, Economic Partners Sudbury East - West Nipissing

The 7000-square-foot Northern Ontario Agri-Food Pavilion will help participating businesses showcase their products and services to the more than 320,000 people expected to visit the fair this year. The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair takes place from Nov. 2 to 11, 2018, at the Enercare Centre in Toronto.

The funding announced today is provided through FedNor’s Northern Ontario Development Program, which supports projects that promote sustainable community economic development, enhance business development and growth, and facilitate innovation throughout the region.
