Officials at CAW Local 599 are looking to help in the battle to keep the jobs at the Timmins Kidd Metallurgical site with an informational meeting set for Jan. 17 at the MacIntyre Arena.
The meeting will prepare union and community members on how to be involved, from attending rallies to writing letters.
This comes just one week after a Dec. 10 rally in support of the union, which was attended by political leadership throughout the region, from Sudbury to Black River-Matheson.
In December, Xstrata Copper announced its copper and zinc processing operations at the Kidd Met site will close in May, causing the loss of 670 jobs.
Union officials also recently met with Northern Development, Mines and Forestry Minister Michael Gravelle, who agreed to look into their concerns and bring them to cabinet.
