Xstrata chairman retires from the board

Xstrata Plc announced that Chairman of the company, Willy Strothotte, will retire from the board as chairman and non-executive director at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May 4, 2011.
Xstrata Plc announced that Chairman of the company, Willy Strothotte, will retire from the board as chairman and non-executive director at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May 4, 2011.

“It has been a privilege to serve as chairman of Xstrata Plc since its inception in 2002, though such an important period of growth and value creation for the group and its shareholders,” Strothotte said in a press release.

Sir John Bond will join Xstrata's board as a consultant with immediate effect and will be appointed chairman from the conclusion of the AGM, subject to shareholder election.

He is currenty chairman of Vodafone Group Plc and will step down from their board on July 26, 2011.
