The Ontario Mining Association's Energy Committee is holding a workshop in Sudbury June 20 to 22 focusing on conserving energy at mining operations.

One of the sessions will deal with what organization does what in Ontario's electricity system. Participants can also learn how to access energy savings through various programs and they will hear from those with success stories. Two tours are also being offered – BESTECH's energy consumption optimization system and Rail-Veyor's remote controlled haulage system at Vale's Stobie Mine.

Ontario's mining industry spends about $500 million on energy every year, which represents about 15 to 30 per cent of operating costs.

The sessions will be held at the Willet Green Miller Centre auditorium on Ramsey Lake Road.
