The Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario branch of Women in Mining Canada is seeking support to get its fledgling organization up and running.

The Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario branch of Women in Mining Canada is seeking support to get its fledgling organization up and running.

Acknowledging women are underrepresented in mining, the group’s aim is to grow a networking group for women involved in, or affiliated with, the mineral resources sector, in addition to urging women to enter the mining sector as a career through education and training. Members will be comprised of both men and women from the community.

The group will hold its first event, a wine and cheese networking reception and membership drive, on Nov. 1 at the Valhalla Inn in Thunder Bay from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $25 at the door and includes a one-year membership.
