The new leadership for Miocene Minerals, a company spun out of Sudbury-based Wallbridge Mining Company Limited (TSX:WM), has been officially appointed.
The new president and CEO of Miocene is Bruce Jago, which joined Wallbridge in 2005 as the vice-president of exploration. Previously, he had served as Temex Resources Corp.'s diamond projects manager.
Clinton Smyth will serve as Miocene's vice-president of exploration, and has more than 30 years of experience in minerals exploration, resource evaluation and mining. He has worked for De Beers Consolidated Mines, Anglo American Corporation, and Minorco, and is the founder of Georeference Online Ltd.
The board of directors of Miocene has also been appointed, and includes Parviz Farsangi, former executive vice-president and COO of Vale Inco Limited; Tom Hussey, vice-president and CFO of Brampton Engineering and former CFO of Wallbridge; Darryl Sittler, former NHLer and Hockey Hall of Fame inductee; and Alar Soever, chairman of Miocene, as well as president and CEO of Wallbridge.
Mary Montgomery has also been appointed as the new company's CFO, a position she currently holds at Wallbridge.
Miocene is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wallbridge, and was set up to fund exploration of Wallbridge's properties in British Columbia.
