After talks broke down between Vale Inco and United Steelworkers Local 9508 over the past week, the company announced it will restart production at its Voisey's Bay mine in Labrador using non-striking workers.

Mining activity stopped at Voisey's Bay in August when 240 workers went on strike.

The move is described by the company as "the most responsible course of action for the business," and will affect the more than 250 employees not on strike.

In a release, the company accused the union of using strikers in Labrador as leverage for negotiations in Sudbury, where roughly 3,000 Steelworkers have been on strike since July.
