Temex Resources has released a resource estimate for its Whitney gold project near Timmins.
In a Sept. 5 release, the Toronto-based gold digger said the Upper Hallnor portion of its gold property contains a measured resource of 232,000 ounces at a grade of 2.44 grams per tonne (g/t), an indicated resource of 544,000 ounces at a grade of 1.95 g/t and a measured resource of 231,000 ounces at 1.79 g/t.
Company president Ian Campbell said these high-grade, near-surface gold results “validates our thesis that Temex controls a very attractive asset strategically located in Canada's most prolific gold mining district.”
With more drilling planned on several near-surface target areas, the company said the property is wide open for expansion.
The project is a 60-40 joint venture between Temex and Goldcorp.
It's located on a four-kilometre section of the Porcupine-Destor Fault, considered Canada's largest gold camp with more than 70 million ounces produced.
The property is host to three past-producing mines, including the Hallnor which produced more than 1 million ounces of gold.
