Thunder Bay has been selected as the host city for the 2014 Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative Annual General Meeting and Conference.

The city is expecting 250 delegates from cities around the Great Lakes in June, 2014.

The initiative is a coalition of U.S. and Canadian mayors and officials from 95 municipalities working to advance the protection and restoration of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River.

“We are thrilled to be the successful bid for this major conference,” said Mayor Keith Hobbs in a statement. “This will result in bringing many new visitors, Mayors, staff and spouses to Thunder Bay, most who have never visited our city.”
