C & M Tile and Granites in Thunder Bay is expanding its facility, promoting local economic development. In Jan. 20 news release, the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund announced an investment of $56,848 in the company for installing new machinery that will help meet an increasing demand for its marble, granite and other stone products.
The improvements will upgrade current operations and increase efficiency and productivity so the company can expand its market base nationally and internationally.
The government said Ontario leads Canada in the production of industrial minerals like granite, talc, lime and salt. Northwestern Ontario, in particular, is home to significant granite operations in Vermillion Bay and Kenora.
