Revitalizing Thunder Bay is on the minds of the organizers of the city's inaugural TED conference in February.
With a theme of Reinvention, the organizing committee of TEDxThunder Bay is searching for speakers to attend the Feb. 16 event at the Lakehead University Outpost.
It's the city's first TED event inspired by the free-thinking conference started in California 26 years ago.
TED is a not-for-profit organization devoted to “ideas worth spreading” and has branched out to different cities. The main TED conference is held each spring in Long Beach, California and attracts world-renowned speakers. TEDx is a program of locally-organized events designed to bring people together to spark deep discussions. The TED conference provides general guidance to the local programs.
The purpose of the Thunder Bay conference is to inspire, cultivate and develop a more vibrant community. The event will have a maximum of 100 participants.
Applications for speakers will be accepted until Dec. 12.
