The Sudbury Area Mining Supply and Services Association (SAMSSA) has announced this year's inductees to its vaunted Hall of Fame, including Rematech's Ivan Beljo and Stantec's Bob Rappolt.
For the last three decades, Beljo has served as president of Rematech, where he had worked for 35 years. The company supplies and installs conveyor components, rubber lining of pipes and tanks, and custom moulds rubber products such as mill liners and skip liners.
Rappolt is Stantec's vice-president of mining and has worked in or sponsored assignments in more than 30 countries over the last two decades. A professional engineer, he was previously employed then-Inco's Sudbury operations between 1976 and 1987, before joining Redpath's engineering division. In 1995, he became president of McIntosh Engineering (formerly Redpath Engineering).
The two will be officially honored at SAMSSA's annual general meeting, to be held at Bryston's on the Park in Copper Cliff on Dec. 8.
