Sudbury’s Mansour family has donated $500,000 to the Vale Living with Lakes Centre to help foster the health and sustainability of freshwater systems.
The centre’s atrium will be renamed the Milad Gebrael Mansour Atrium in honour of the family’s patriarch, Milad Mansour, a prominent Sudbury businessman who has a number of business interests in the area, primarily in mining.
“The future sustainability of our lakes is a pressing issue—one of the most important of our lifetimes,” said Mansour, president of Milman Industries Inc., in a news release. “We need to find innovative solutions to ensure their preservation, and this is the absolute best place to do it, no question.”
The donation was made through Laurentian’s Sudbury Families Initiative, which encourages prominent Sudbury families to contribute to ongoing improvements at the university.
