Sudbury's leading mining minds in research and business gathered March 30 to honour 10 Laurentian University students for their leadership and excellence in engineering.
Sudbury's leading mining minds in research and business gathered March 30 to honour 10 Laurentian University students for their leadership and excellence in engineering.
Representatives from Laurentian and the Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation (CEMI) recognized the students at a luncheon.
The accomplishments include the awarding of the Stantec/McIntosh Engineering Scholarship to Curtis Cameron, Jacob Francoeur, Ryan Jakov and Scott Ross. It also includes the awarding of the Mason C.F. Kossatz Memorial Scholarship to Curtis Cameron, Simone Hensher and Jamie Waine.
Lauren Flett, Samuel Carriere, Patrick Chartrand and Kyle Beaudry were also recognized for winning first place in the Senior Design Team category at the Ontario Engineering Competition, which they followed with a first-place win at the Canadian Engineering Competition.
The event capped off with a networking segment with mining industry leaders from Stantec, Golder Associates and Symboticware.
