Sudbury film gets funds

Montefiore Films has received provincial funding to shoot Cas & Dylan in Sudbury . The film, featuring Richard Dreyfuss and directed by Jason Priestly, received $644,058 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp.

The film, featuring Richard Dreyfuss and directed by Jason Priestly, received $644,058 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp. The production is creating around 50 jobs for local residents working as extras, crew and production staff.

"By investing in film and television projects in Sudbury and Northern Ontario, our government is creating local jobs and helping more northerners build careers and develop skills and experience in the industry,” said Rick Bartolucci, minister of Northern Development and Mines and chair of the NOHFC, in a news release.

The film is one of several productions that have been filmed in and around Sudbury in recent months.

Film and television productions contribute almost $2 billion annually to Ontario’s economy and supports over 23,000 direct and indirect jobs.
