The development of a city-wide strategic and business plan for health research are amongst the priorities of a new study announced for Sudbury.
A funding grant of $50,000 from the provincial government will “help establish Sudbury and Laurentian University as centres of excellence in health research and innovation through a new integrative study, according to a news release.
Laurentian University will lead this project while working with the following community partners: Cambrian College, Collège Boréal, Sudbury Regional Hospital, the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation, the City of Greater Sudbury, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, the Northern Centre of Advance Technology and the Sudbury and District Health Unit.
"This is an excellent opportunity to leverage the knowledge and expertise in our community to support this vitally important health research,” said Dr. Patrice Sawyer, vice-president of francophone affairs, research and graduate studies at Laurentian University. “We look forward to collaborating with all partners on this project as we work toward the common goal of a stronger and healthier community.”
In addition to developing the strategic plan, researchers will aim to enhance communication between educational, government and private partners in the health-care sector while improving the potential to secure project financing and support, and foster a professional reputation that enables the recruitment and interest by other partners, including from within the private sector.
