A pair of Sudbury businesses are the beneficiaries of funding from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp. (NOHFC).
A total of $200,000 was allotted under the Emerging Technology Program, which is designed to encourage both the private and public sectors to develop exciting and viable new technologies that will contribute to future Northern prosperity.
Tri-D Technologies and Rock-Tech Sales and Service will each receive $100,000 under the program. Tri-D will develop a new software system for the marine industry, while Rock-Tech will use its share of the funds for to develop a boom system used to drill holes for rock blasting.
"We need to not only be the builders of our community, but we need to be the creators and innovators,” Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci said in a press release. “By investing in emerging technologies we are ensuring that our local businesses can compete in the global economy and thrive.”
