Sudbury airport to expand commercial land

A nine-hectare expansion development project is being planned for the Greater Sudbury Airport.

A nine-hectare expansion development project is being planned for the Greater Sudbury Airport.

With support from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), the Sudbury Airport Community Development Corporation will develop the land to be available for general aviation and non-aviation business growth.

The project, located north of the existing air terminal building, includes the installation of water, sewer and electrical services as well as the development of an area for loading and parking up to 30 aircraft.

It will accommodate such services as executive charters, couriers, fire suppression, flying schools and private aircraft owners.

Construction is underway and work is expected to be completed in summer 2011.
