Damage caused to St. Andrew Goldfields' Holt Mine during a late November incident has been repaired, allowing normal operations to resume.
On Nov. 26, an incident occurred at the mine, located east of Matheson along the Quebec border, when a piece of equipment was being lowered to the mine's underground workings. Portions of the shaft timber structure were damaged in several areas from near surface to the 250-metre level of the 1,195-metre shaft. There were no injuries.
Development work was suspended in order for the necessary repairs to be carried out. Pre-production activities have now recommenced.
St. Andrew Goldfields' operations at the Holloway Mine, Hislop Mine and Holt Mill were not significantly affected by the incident, though it may hinder the company's objective of producing 80,000 ounces of gold in 2010.
