Merlin Dewing, Sioux Lookout's chief administrative officer, has resigned, effectively immediately.
In an Oct. 14 statement, Mayor Dennis Leney said Dewing was “integral” in transforming the corporation and called him a “visionary in many regards to the changing face of the community as a whole.”
To fill the gap, a team of senior staff are taking turns rotating through the position as acting CAO to give council time to find a replacement.
Leney promises this team will ensure business continuity from an administrative perspective while council consider its options.
