The inaugural meeting of the Northern Ontario Regional Tourism Organization 13 (RTO13) will take place Sept. 20 in Sault Ste. Marie. The organization represents the interests of tourism outfitters across Northern Ontario.
The annual general meeting will take place at the Comfort Suites and Conference Centre on Sept. 20, starting at 4 p.m., followed by a dinner and presentation by guest speaker Chris Adamkowski, the account executive for government and education at Google.
The RTO13 was formed as one of 13 provincial tourism regions in 2009, following a report commissioned by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport that recommended creating the not-for-profict organizations to build a competitive and sustainable tourism industry throughout Ontario.
Goals include: supporting strategic alignment with tourism partners; increasing awareness and recognition of the organization; securing and utilizing industry data and research to enhance decision making; exploring tourism product development and innovation opportunities; achieving greater alignment with local, municipal, provincial and federal efforts; and focusing on best bet consumers.
