Sault Ste. Marie businessman Gerry Bugyra has been hired as business development manager at the city’s innovation centre.

In his new role, Bugyra will work with business incubator clients at the Sault Ste. He will also launch and manage various business funding programs and workshops, and provide direct assistance to science and technology-focused entrepreneurs in the form of coaching, mentoring and advisory services.

He has also served as program manager and coordinator for the Wawa Community Adjustment Committee and owned his own business in the wood pellet fuel industry.

“I strongly feel that Sault Ste. Marie and the surrounding area has so much potential for small and medium enterprise growth in the science and technology sector, as well as many other areas of business,” Bugyra said in a news release. “I look forward to working with the SSMIC team to bring in new ideas and help develop business growth to its fullest potential and highest standards in the near future."
