Sault Ste. Marie will host the first annual Soo Sustainable event from September 22 to 28, with a focus on renewable energy and building a sustainable community.
The first annual event, sponsored by the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC), is being dubbed Green Days, with a number of events scheduled to take place over the seven days.
“We are currently working on a Community Alternative Energy Strategy for Sault Ste. Marie,” SSMIC executive director Tom Vair said in a news release, “and the Soo Sustainable event is really an extension of the strategy to engage and inform the public on issues around alternative energy and building a sustainable community.”
The event will feature free keynote presentations from world-renowned experts, workshops providing input into the Community Alternative Energy Strategy, a Green Expo at the Roberta Bondar Pavilion, and energy workshops for business owners and the public.
