Sault Ste. Marie is hosting an Emergency Medicine Conference, which is expected to draw participants from around the North.

Held Sept. 20-23, the four-day conference will be held at Sault Area Hospital and Sault College and will feature two days of pre-conference skills, followed by a two-day conference program.

The keynote speaker is emergency physician Dr. Steve Roedde.

Organizer Dr. Ehsan Mohammadi has expressed optimism that the conference will become an annual event.

“Interest in the conference has been very good so far,” Mohammadi said in a news release. “This is the first of its kind to be held in Sault Ste. Marie and hopefully we can make this an annual event, filling a gap in much-needed advanced educational resources in the North.”

The conference has been organized by a group of local emergency medicine specialists, and is sponsored by Sault Area Hospital, Sault Ste. Marie Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee, and the Bank of Nova Scotia.
