Sault companies lauded for businesses prowess

A trio of Sault Ste. Marie businesses has been recognized for business excellence by Business Sault Ste. Marie, an offshoot of the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation.

A trio of Sault Ste. Marie businesses has been recognized for business excellence by Business Sault Ste. Marie, an offshoot of the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation.

“The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in the Sault area, and these award winners exemplify the creativity and ingenuity of the local business community,” Terri Chiarello, the EDC's small business advisor, said in a news release.

The Bridges to Better Business Award was given to Teresa Burns of Candy Bouquet for demonstrating innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial excellence.

Tim Berkenbosch of Tim Berkenbosch Milling was recognized with the Summer Company Award for generating the highest revenue while participating in the Summer Company youth entrepreneurship program.

Wendy Marasco of Cupcakez received the Alynn Burke Award, named for a former EDC staff member, for championing youth development and/or entrepreneurship.

The awards ceremony is part of Bridges to Better Business, an annual event that incorporates learning and networking opportunities in addition to the awards gala.
