Sault College has been granted funds through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp. (NOHFC) that will allow it to move forward with the second phase of its Aviation Infrastructure Development Project.
The school has been approved for $519,350 through the NOHFC's Infrastructure and Community Development Program, which will allow it to built new classroom and training spaces, acquire a new flight simulator, purchase flight-tracking technology and upgrade to new radio and navigation systems.
The expansion is expected to create up to 10 new jobs.
“The aviation program at Sault College is recognized for excellence around the globe and is our most popular and oversubscribed program,” said Sault College president Dr. Ron Common in a news release.
“The funds made available through the NOHFC will allow us to stay competitive, as well as provide our students with the most up-to-date simulation equipment in this expanding field. We would like to thank the NOHFC for its support in providing this progressive learning opportunity at our new Aviation Centre.”
