Sault College is getting $4 million from the province for a new state-of-the-art training institute for students studying in the health sciences field.
The Health and Wellness Centre will feature modern labs and health facilities, and will be used to deliver specialized programs in areas such as human performance, chronic disease management, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, fitness and health promotion, and gerontology.
“The new Sault College Health and Wellness Centre will be a vital training and education resource,” said college president Ron Common in a news release. “State-of-the-art academic labs, fitness rooms and a gymnasium will better accommodate our growth in varsity sports and promote a healthier lifestyle for our students. This investment by the Ontario government is helping Sault College students get the best possible education to succeed."
The project is expected to create 70 jobs and is part of the province's Putting Students First program to enhance post-secondary education in Ontario.
