Enrolment continues to rise at Sault College, which the school said indicates strong overall growth.

“We are very pleased with our progress, which reflects continued growth in enrolment,” stated Leo Tiberi, the school’s vice-president, academic, in a news release. “This speaks to our college’s ability to meet the demands of industry and deliver the programming students want and need.”

First-year enrolment has increased by six per cent. Waitlisted programs have more than doubled since 2010, with 20 of them this year demonstrating growing popularity across all program areas and schools.

Of the 2,487 registered students at the college, 793 students, or 32 per cent of the student population, relocated to Sault Ste. Marie from other parts of the province to attend college in the community.

Overall, enrolment is up two per cent in all years across the college. Since 2008 the college has grown by 32 per cent, with a total of 2,487 current full-time post-secondary students, compared to 1,887 in 2008.

Continuing Education saw a substantial increase of five per cent in enrolment.

Total enrolment at the college has now reached more than 4,200, including apprenticeships and adult training offerings.
