Nelson Baker is retiring as director and vice-chair of Rainy River Resources.
He was responsible for acquiring their highly prospective Rainy River gold project in Richardson Township near Fort Frances in northwestern Ontario.
In a May 31 company statement, Baker wants to spend more time with his family while continuing to consult in the mining business. Baker served with the company in various positions since 2005.
Nelson's dedicated service was recognized by company president and CEO Raymond Threlkeld.
"It was Nelson who recognized the potential of the Rainy River project and oversaw our exploration activities during the critical early years that has resulted in us reaching the stage of advanced exploration we are at today."
In related company news, Nicholas Nikolakakis has been appointed company vice-president and chief financial officer.
