Palmer Construction Group Inc. of Sault Ste. Marie has made a $25,000 donation to Algoma University's Essential Elements campaign.
Essential Elements: The Campaign for Algoma University was set up to “build significant philanthropic support for campus development and growth, research projects, artistic programs and financial support for students.”
“Algoma University is essential to the growth and development of Sault Ste. Marie,” Palmer general manager Terry Rainone said in a news release. “Palmer Construction Group Inc. is proud to support Algoma University's Essential Elements campaign.”
The goal of Essential Elements is to raise $6 million for student scholarships and bursaries, research and activities centred in the Biosciences and Technology Convergence Centre, and support for the fine arts and music education, centred in the new Fine Arts and Education Centre.
In thanking Palmer Construction, Essential Elements chair Brian Curran said the success of the campaign will hinge on contributions from local businesses.
“Algoma University can only realize its tremendous potential if it has the strong financial support from businesses like Palmer Construction Group who believe in the power of education to change the future,” he said in the release.
