Ontario Northland Railway workers say they aren't done yet with the provincial government.
CAW Local 103 is placing ads in the Toronto Star to pressure Queen's Park to reverse the Metrolinx decision to award the GO Transit coach refurbishment contract to a Quebec company, Canadian Allied Diesel (CAD) of Montreal.
“We believe it is the next step in our long term campaign to overturn the Metrolinx decision to build support in the Greater Toronto area,” said CAW Local 103 president Brian Kelly in an Aug. 3 statement.
“Once people are informed of the facts surrounding the awarding of the contract to CAD instead of Ontario Northland, people are fully supportive and will contact Premier McGuinty's office to tell him to reverse this decision.”
Metrolinx awarded a $120 million contract to CAD in July.
Local 103 represents clerical, stores, maintenance and on-board service workers in North Bay and across northeastern Ontario.
