Nominations are open for this year's Northern Ontario Business Awards (NOBA).
The City of Greater Sudbury will be the host site for the 25th anniversary of the awards on Sept. 27.
Over the years, NOBA has recognized 210 companies and individuals for their excellence in business and entrepreneurship, as well as their contribution to generating wealth in the region.
“NOBA really is the Academy Awards of Northern Ontairo,” said Patricia Mills, publisher of Northern Ontario Business, at a Feb. 25 press conference in Sudbury. “Being a black-tie celebration of the North's entrepreneurial elite, it is also a back-slapping gathering of the region's business, community development and political movers and shakers.”
“It is so important that we recognize the entrepreneurs that put everything on the line,” said Sudbury Mayor Marianne Matichuk, “Nominations are now open and we encourage the individuals and businesses in Sudbury, and across the North, to get your nominations in.”
Awards are given for: Company of Year (three categories), Entrepreneur of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Entrepreneurial Community of the Year, First Nations Business Award of Excellence, Innovation, Judge's Choice and for the Union Gas Essay Scholarship.
The deadline for entries is April 15.
