Northern College unveiled its 2013-2016 strategic plan to members of the public. The plan outlines the college’s vision, mission and strategic directions for the next three years and will come into effect on April 1, 2013.

Essential to the development of the plan was a region-wide public consultation process, which captured many different perspectives about what makes Northern College a positive force in the community. A steering committee with representatives from all four campuses, including management, faculty, union, support services and students oversaw the process.

Northern College’s success as a hub of education, training, innovation and transformation in northeastern Ontario is driven by four priority objectives stated in the plan: accessible education, signature programs, the Northern experience and Aboriginal perspectives.

“We are committed to the social and economic success of our communities by maximizing educational access, engagement and choice,” said Fred Gibbons, president of Northern College. “Thanks to our communities’ invaluable involvement, we now have a comprehensive plan that will guide all college activities for the next three years, allowing us to meet and exceed the needs of our learners.”
